Today I got the call that as a raiser you never want to get. Malcolm was Career Changed for cataracts in his right eye. I am beyond devastated I had really high hopes for him. I have decided to let Guide Dogs see if another program would like him first. If not I will place him with a family. I likely won't know anything for at least a month.
Oh no :(. I'm so sorry. I know what that is like; my third puppy, Hanalei, was CC'd for a cataract in one of her eyes.. It was so disappointing because she was SUCH an amazing dog.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to Malcolm finding a new career! Hanalei was retrained as a wheelchair assistance dog and is loving life!
It really does all work out to what it was meant to be I suppose.
Oh, I'm sorry. That must have been disappointing, but whatever career he is cc'd to, even if he simply becomes a pet, he will be great at it. He is an amazing dog!
ReplyDeletethanks now that ive had time to process the news im doing better about it. I am really hoping another program takes him. I just keep telling myself that even though he wont be a guide it couldve been worse and at least it will not prevent him from living a great life.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry, Ashley. :-( Dante and I are cheering on Malcolm's success in whatever he chooses to do!
