Happy national pancake day!

Ashley: so today was my first full day with andrew in fresno with me we have some stuff to work out but other than that we have been pretty good. He sent the first part of the day in the crate while i was at school i came home for 2hrs to let him play. After school we went to an outside mall and walked around outside and worked on some commands. After that we went over to ihop. Today was ihops national pancake day which ment free pancakes (3small pancakes).andrew did pretty good he was a little wiggly at times but considering it was only his 2nd time out to eat id say he did good.

Andrew: hi everyone i know its been a while since ive written but i havent done much. So today my raiser had school so i had to stay in my crate in the appartment for some of the day. Once my raiser got back she took me to the place she called sierra vista mall where we walked and worked on my commands. I loved walking wasnt a big fan of working on my commands though. Then after all that my raiser took me to this place called ihop where she made me lay down and be good while she ate pancakes. NO FAIR! Im now enjoying playtime now.

Puppy playdate/day 1 in fresno

So today Andrew got to have a playdate. My friend returned her guide dog puppy Shawn on friday and picked up a stater pup named opal a female yellow lab. So we decided the two needed a playdate today so she brought opal over to my house to play. The two played for about 1.5 hrs. (sorry no pics since two pups are hard to get pictures of). After the playdate Andrew and i loaded up into my car to make the two hr drive back to fresno. He is settling into my appartment. I can say i am now worn out from keepin an eye on him. Tomorrow i hope to take him on a small outing not sure where yet though

Good luck shawn

Yesterday shawns raiser got notice that he is on this recall for breeder evals. He will be leaving on the puppy truck 2/24. Im sure hell do great. Only bad part about breeder evals is not hearing anything until 1 of 3 things happen
1. He is ccd
2. He is dropped from breeding program and goes into harness training
3. He is chosen as a breeder

Good luck to him! Also as long as things continue to go well andrew will be movin up to fresno with me next weekend.

Puppy meeting

Tonight we had a puppy meeting at an outdoor shopping center. Everyone was excited to see shawn at the meeting he did really good considering he was in a new place with new dogs. His main issue was he kept pulling. Also i had my home inspection today. Since i had moved i had to have my place approved to have a guide dog puppy and of course i passed.

Heartbreak

Today we got a call that no puppy raiser wants to get. We were told that Polaris who i had transferred in the summer was ccd this week. We were offered the chance to adopt him, but there was one condition wed have to transfer Andrew. Now i love andrew to much to transfer him so we were hoping to place him with someone we know like weve done in the past. Problem is he has a lot of special needs to be met and no one we know meets these requirements which is leaving us with the heartbreaking decision to have the school place him. While the school places them in great homes there is one problem you usually dont see them again and the thought of never seeing polaris again is heartbreaking. Ecspecially since when we transferred him we were holdinh on to the hope that if he was ccd we would get him back. Now hes ccd and we are having to say goodbye yet again its really hard saying goodbye to him.

Andrew news

I am very excited to say that I received the news that my Bakersfield and fresno leaders as well as our cfr are in the final stages of making arrangements to allow Andrew to move up to Fresno with me. Originally we were going to have to wait till summer for him to move up, but after explaining that my schedule allowed me to work with Andrew a lot more than my mom can we were told that the issue needed to be discussed but saw no reason why he could not come to fresno. So far the deal is Andrew can move up towards the end of feb, but can not go to school yet. I agree Andrew would be to young to go to my classes, and that would be to much to expect him to adjust to a new location plus school. My plan is on the weekendswhen no one is there I will take him and walk the campus so he can see what the campus is like then as he gets older this semester allow him to walk a short bit on campus with kids there and start introducing him to classes by taking him once a week and work up from there. I am looking forward to having Andrew in fresno with me.

Also got news that Medford had a date today. That means more grandpups to come.
